The legendary author of The Catcher in the Rye passed away on 27 January 2010, at the age of 91. Over 60 million copies of this enduring American classic have been sold since its year of publication in 1951.

We have a wonderful start to the new year with news that Colm Toibin has won the 2009 Costa Novel Award for his latest book 'Brooklyn'. Toibin is the author of five previous novels, collections of short stories and many works of non-fiction.

He has twice been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, for The Blackwater Lightship (1999) and The Master (2004). The Master won The International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (2006).
